Blockchain, gaming, pizza and guns.

Whoever watched the first episode “USS Callister” the new season of Black Mirror, which I am warmly advise to see. There is a part where the character gets ingame notification that his pizza arrived. I want to go a bit more far with this idea. After writing an article about earning money as a job while gaming. I was thinking about earning money, marketing and blockchain technology. What is a blockchain? It is a continuously growing list of records, called blocks, which are linked and secured using cryptography. Each block typically contains a cryptographic hash pointer as a link to a previous block, a timestamp and transaction data. By design, blockchains are inherently resistant to modification of the data. Blockchains are secure by design and are an example of a distributed computing system with high Byzantine fault tolerance. Decentralized consensus has therefore been achieved with a blockchain. This makes blockchains potentially suitable for the recording of events, medical records, and other records management activities, such as identity management, transaction processing, documenting provenance, food traceability or voting.

What about gaming? Now, gaming innovators are applying the blockchain to one of the industry’s undeniable elephants in the room: gamer-earned digital goods. In a digital gaming industry already generating $94.4 billion in revenue, the ability to securely sell gamer-earned digital goods across games would be a trillion-dollar opportunity. But as many gamers, like the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player that has acquired a rare Crimson Web M9 Bayonet (currently valued at more than $5,000), will be quick to point out, the enormous amounts of money, and time, spent earning these goods currently amounts to nothing as soon as they switch to a different game.

There are already websites selling ingame goods such as gameflip.com already built a digital goods marketplace with over 2 million gamers. Now, with the development of FLIP, their crypto-token and blockchain ecosystem, they are giving gamers the ability to buy and sell both gamer-earned and publisher purchased goods for games on all platforms, including mobile, PC, console, and VR/AR. This safe, transparent marketplace would never have been possible without blockchain technology. Also there is a way to sell goods inside steam platform.

What does it have to do with pizza?

Well imagine you will play a game, then you will take your farmed new legendary greatsword or that Crimson Web M9 Bayonet and sell it for a pizza that will arrive to your home, sound nice? You can always sell your ingame items for money and pay your bills, and you can sell your ingame loot for a gaming chair at gaminggearshop.com but can you pay for an uber with a weapon skin?

Lets make it more complicated, you are a business and you sell pizzas. You want more customers, so why wont you open a VR store integrated in the UX of any game out there and sell you pizza for ingame items or esports laurels which will be worth money or their value will be transported to cryptocurrency?

Or.. you can sell ingame pizzas for a real world greatsword or guns, what?! This futuristic ideas are near. Prepare yourself and maybe start ingame grinding or farming more.
